Fellowship call for Czech ARC node

The Czech node of the European ALMA Regional Centre offers a research fellowship, funded under the Czech ministry of education project "TYCHO BRAHE", entitled: Support of Interferometric (sub)millimetre astronomy projects in the framework of activities of the Czech node of the European ALMA Regional Centre.

Duration: 2 years

Requirements:
- PhD degree in astronomy or physics;
- Demonstrated research activity in (sub)millimetre astronomy.

Preferential qualifications:
- Participation in proposal(s) that obtained observing time with ALMA or other facilities operating in the (sub)mm band
- Knowledge of ALMA tools (OT, Helpdesk, sensitivity calculator, OST, ...)
- Knowledge of the CASA data reduction package

The awarded fellow is expected to participate in the ALMA related activities that the Czech node performs for the astronomical community, as well as contribute to the development of the Czech node itself. The fellow is also expected to carry out his/her ALMA projects in collaboration with astronomers within and outside the group.

Applicants should send CV, bibliography and a brief description of research interests, and arrange for two letters of reference.

The starting date of the position is anticipated before January 2015 (this can be negotiated to some extent). Salary will be based on the domestic level and it includes health insurance in the Czech Republic.
