Science Verification: Long Baselines - HL Tau
Description / Details of the target
Target: HL Tau (J2000 04:31:38.45 +18:13:59.0). HL Tau is a young star with a circumstellar disk.
Spectral setup: an FDM spectral window on the CO line plus other spectral windows for continuum.
Example references: Greaves et al. 2008, MNRAS, 391, 74; Kwon et al. 2011, ApJ, 741.
Capabilities to be verified
10km baselines in Bands 3, 6 & 7 (continuum and potentially spectral line). Demonstration of similar-resolution (~0.06'' for a ~10km baseline configuration) imaging at two frequencies (Bands 3 and 6). Higher frequency (Band 7) observations at long baselines.
Suitability
The target needs to have suitable comparison data in the literature and lie within the LST range required for observation during the campaign.
Status
Observed. Data will be released on 17 February 2015.
An announcement will appear on the ALMA Science Portal prior to any Science Verification data being publicly released.
