Science Verification: HR3126 (IC 2220)
Description
HR 3126 (J2000 07:56:50.9 -59:07:33) is an M-type star (thought to be a red giant or AGB star) surrounded by the asymmetric extended reflection nebula IC 2220 (also known as the "Toby Jug" nebula). The region to be mapped is about 4 x 4 arc minutes in extent.

Capabilities to be verified
With this target we will demonstrate the Cycle 1 large mosaic capabilities. Observations will use the 12-m array, 7-m array (ACA) and single-dish in Band 3, with tunings covering CO and CN. The correlator setup will be: mixed, 1spw per baseband.
Suitability
This is an example of an evolved star with an extended envelop which contains filamentary structure (in the visible images) and CO emission with velocities of up to 70 km/s. The combination of diffuse emission and fine structure as well as complex dynamics makes this a good demonstration of the mosaicing capabilities of ALMA.
Status
Not observed. We no longer plan to observe this target.
